On my site I often post tables with results to competitions. Generally this works well but occasionally the tables get large and need two be broken into multiple post. I´m not sure why but it seems like there is a (stock code) limit to how many lines a post body can contain?

This has only happened twice so its not a issue but I would like to customize this for my site if possible. If there is a limit coded into the software where is it and has anybody chaned this in the past? What performace factors (other than page load time) could be impacted?

Gracias
Jay

i believe it is 65K, which is HUGE ! smile

if i have a very complicated table, i just go the google docs route and do all the editing there

it gives a very responsive tabular, and tabbed view of TONS of data..

then i just embed the doc into a post..

letting google take the hit on size etc

also, what is nice is i can add new data and the tabular embed is automatically updated..

Would it be safe to change the underlying ubbt_post.post_body and ubbt_post.post_default_body columns from TEXT to MEDIUMTEXT?

We've just had a member who has run into this problem, attempting to edit a message which is actually a little under this limit (62158 characters typed, 62295 characters shown in the SQL error message that is displayed). The message is in the form of a monthly newsletter that he writes, and it frequently gets up to the 50-60k size, but this is the first time it's errored.

you _could_ do that, but i won't vouch for it working, nor am i going to pre test it laugh

if you _must_ do it, backup your DB 1st smile

i'd just find a different way to post a monthly newsletter.

ie: just put it in a private google doc ( no limit there ) -- and iframe it in a post ( no border ) so it is transparent

smile
