Why not make it simple and add a smiley(Graemlins) in the control panel. Then you just select it when making a post.

Where I can find those graemlins/symbols for gender and subscript and superscript tags for UBBthreads. I am just a user. But I would like to refer the source to the admin of this forum.

The admin will need to add them. All he needs to do is find the images online somewhere and add them in the control panel and add shortcut keys
Control Panel » Images & Icons Graemlins Select the tab at the bottom Add New Graemlin and follow the upload directions.
Graemlins are the smiley images available for use in posts.
You may change the image for any of the Graemlins by using the browse box next to the graemlin.
The stock Graemlins may not be removed, nor may you change the UBBCode or trigger text.
Note: Deleting a Graemlin may result in broken images appearing in posts in your forums.

You can google say gender symbol. For starters here is one page with some: http://www.google.com/search?q=gender+symbol&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Rqh&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1238&bih=833&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=P5fCTpOvD4KJtwfnkdmoDQ&ved=0CDcQsAQ

Actually, this is a hyperlink. But If I want to insert a "bare" link by copy & paste it is not necessary to click any button additionally in other forum softwares. Do You understand what I mean?

Another fyi is.
The character you are currently using for gender must be posted using html.
That is why I suggested to have the admin add a graphic to use because allowing html by anyone is basically a security risk.
I can do it here only because I am allowed to post html.

In your case as a normal user you may not be allowed to.

Thank You! I was just wondering, why sometimes even short links weren't converted. Maybe I can convince the administration to do these modifications ... I will see.

Here is another FYI for your admin. Currently your board is using version 7.5.4.2. There has been a discovery of a big security hole found in all of the version 7 series. And it should be updated. They can either upgrade to the latest version or install the patch for their version.
It is a big security risk!!!!

Does this upgrade change the interface? Honestly, I don't like this version with avatars positioned above the text - and I fear the admins of my forum don't want to change our "version" due to this reason.

HuH? The upgrade patch only addresses the security hole. However the upgrade from version 7.5.42 to v7.56 does have some changes. But i am unclear on what you are looking for to change. The interface is much the same . you would need to look at the change log to determine the benefit.
As far as avatar above the posting that sounds like you changed your preferences. As A guest at the site without registration I don't see that.

Goto Mystuff> edit preferences Scroll to Post Layout: Select User info on side. Submit and see if that is what you want.
