I have a style where in 'thread view' I'd like to alter the color that display names are shown.

Which part of the style css file is responsible for the display name visible on the left side of each post?

Taking a stab at this.
Since they are hover links and take the default colors.
Only admins and moderators have a special link color setting.
For admins and moderators.
Should be:
Misc. Properties
in the style editor
There is a class for each of the defaults(admin, mods).
For a normal user:
I assume it would be:
General CSS Properties
body
Then edit special link properties.
Since it is a hover link the default color is used.

Of course there are probably other settings to address but that should give you a start

I found the original setting suggested did not work.
But changing the general properties section as noted above did seem to work.

I'm a bit lost here. wink

Looking at this thread is a perfect example of what I'm after. Which part of the css determines the color that my own display name is shown in when looking through a thread like this one?

Ok, seem to have got it right. smile

Did the general CSS one for the body as well as the special ones and all seems to have been sorted. Many thanks. smile

if you want a specific css selector for the actual name in the left side, that would be

.author-content a:link
.author-content a:hover
.author-content a:visited
.author-content a:active

4 rules for the various states of a link, including pseudo selectors

Okay the dilemma is that your name is a link per say. You can select it and it takes you to your profile.
So there is a default class for doing so. Most links are somewhere in the blue range.
In ubb there are some class settings that over-ride that color for mods and admins only, meaning admins are red and mods are green and global mods are light blue.
For normal users they take on the default colors like all sites do.
Blue in this case.
So in ubb to override the link colors you need to change the special properties section in the style editor.

For example your name is:
color #135060
Currently.

In the special properties section you can specify colors for unvisited, visited, active, hover.

Since there is not a class for normal users you would need to set the defaults.
So you would edit the style and goto:
General CSS Properties
Select body
Then select Special Link Properties.

When expanded you will see several boxes.
As noted above.
This is the mouse behaviors.

So you could have different colors for each one.
So make a entry such as for yellow:
color: #EEEE00;

In each entry box.
