I've done a search for mysql in the admin forum but didn't find what I was looking for....so the new thread.
I was recently handed the admin duties of an old board (6.5.2) that has been in existence for almost 10 years. The bad part about this is that all the admin details like database passwords and such seem to no longer exist.
I need to move this board to a new location but don't have the password to the database.
Is there somewhere in the config files that the password is stored unencrypted? Or, how would I go about changing the password to the database without disrupting the board?

The MySQL username and password are displayed in the includes/config.inc.php file; it's plain text (I've always wondered why it wasn't like Base64ed for a basic "at least it's not plain text for display").

Also when you move the board. You will need to edit that same file for the new paths, database name and password. You only need to edit the top few lines to get the board functional. But to complete the move you should visit all the options in the control panel verify the settings and re save them even if they look correct. Due to some settings are saved in the database and some are saved in the file.
