You will need to make a change to your mysql.inc.php file in the libs directory. Line 283 you will see Change the 0 to a 1, ftp it back up and try to edit your profile. You should now be able to see the actual error. Once you have copied the error, go back and edit the above back to 0 and ftp it back so others don't see what the error is.

libs/mysql.inc.php (I believe) search it for "$showerror = 0;" and change the value to a 1; the error will now display for everyone who can load the forums.

You will not find it in the CP, you will need to ftp in to the libs directory to get that file.

If your lost at that you may need to open up a support ticket or hire someone like Gizmo, but they will need the ftp login info. How did you install the software?

You'll need to use a piece of software called an "FTP Client" (such as Filezilla) to connect to the FTP Server on your webhost.
If you cannot understand that statement without having to Google it, I highly advise against you transversing within the files on your webserver as you can destroy the inner workings of your site and suggest you instead hire out to make changes to any coding.
In either case you (or someone else) needs to login to your server via FTP and change an integer in the libs/mysql.inc.php file so that errors are displaying to the browser.
