I'd like a little more out of the current options for groups; I saw something similar in a vBulletin mod years ago...

- Group Moderator: Can add/delete people from groups that they are the moderator of; can be useful for sites who want to have a "club" like feel as groups can be setup to allow access to "group specific" forums.

- Request to Join Group: Users can request to join groups; groups could be set to allow open enrollment whereby users would just join the group or have it allow requests (or not at all) so that users can request that an administrator or group moderator could allow them in the group.

i figure by opening these we could breathe some more functionality into the group system that we use; make it a little more useful.

I would definitely take advantage of those.

This would be very useful.

Can I add to this? Not sure if it is really a group permission or another level (or two) of administrator, but I'd really like a user level that is administrative (can approve and edit users, update the daily "Forum Summary Options") but does NOT have permission to edit any of the other forum settings (Master Settings, other Display Options, etc.).

Lets go a bit more on a moderator.
I would like to see it as a option but:
Allow the moderator to access all aspects of the forum as if it was a unique board.
Add Islands, introductions,Custom header/footer bla bla bla.
In other words allow access to all aspects of a forum display but limited to what the admin allows.
