I am tryimg to reorder some categories, and split off some forums from one category to another.

In the control panel, I am trying to reorder them by changing the order number of the categories. Right now, I have categories #1 through #14, with #2 skipped. I am trying to make category #8 category #2. When I make the change, and click "submit changes," nothing happens, and my categories don't change. Category #8 goes back to #8.

This is very frustrationg.

Can you make it any other number? Just as an experiment?

I tried that, and also created yet another category. I seem to be unable to move anything. I was not able to even move a forum.

Are you able to delete the new category you created?

Did you check your ubbt_CATEGORIES table? Does it need maintenance? (Sorry, I forget the correct terminology.)

If all else fails, as a last resort, I suppose you could manually edit it?

I just tried a re-order on categories v 7.5.6P2 and it seems to be okay.

After all that, I found that the category table was corrupted. Things seem to be working now.

Move to non-bugs?
