With every login and click on any subject thread, there's an authentication panel that appears (and reappears in most cases several times whether you enter the information and click "OK" or click "cancel") with the message:
"The server www.chiroweb.com:80 requires a username and password. The server says: Restricted Area"
The forum members even started a thread asking what's going on with the server and remarking how annoying this is. I'm just trying to find out what's going on. Any ideas?
Even as the forum uses version 5.39b, there's never been this sort of problem until May 18th.

Looks to be something set on your server for permission to access. Could be to double check file folder permissions for the forum as per in the install docs. We don't know if it is a windows or linux site but it could be something that was set in the htaccess file prompting for a login.
BTW classic versions are not supported anymore. Moving to classic forum.

Well, the notice is caused by htauth; there is likely a definition for it in a .htaccess file
