Just had a new user email saying he couldn't register under any browser. I checked it out,m and he is correct - Once you click on the "[ ] I accept the Board Rules," and hit proceed, It loads the Board Rules page up again, instead of going forward into the registration process.

Thoughts?

Thank you,

Shawn

Well that is a old issue with IE.
Part of the new release 7.5.6 was to finally fix that issue.
At least I think so.
v7.6 was to fix it once and for all.

Thanks Ruben,

however...it does it for the under Chrome, IE, and Firefox. It's doing it for me on my Mac with any browser I try (Firefox and Safari), so basically - it isn't letting anyone past that first step of the regiistration page.

Would have it have been something we did on our recent upgrade.

Okay then possibly you need to turn off or double check some settings that will go away eventually.
This will be in the ubb cp,
Control Panel » Primary Settings
[-] Advanced Options
Disable HTTP Referer Check? -Turn it off-or select it.
That would be a start.

I have no idea of what version you are using since you don't post the url to your forum.

Thank you Ruben,

I just checked, and it wasn't selected.

I posted the "Powered by UBB.threadsâ„¢ 7.5.5" at the bottom of my initial post so you'd know which version we are running.

Actually, I don't believe they upgraded our Forums, rather just moved servers it, and our web site was being hosted on.

Best,

Well I really should have said to select it to turn it off.
Try that.
BTW it is broken for me also.

Did it, and when I hit go, it gave me the following error: The config.inc.php file found [in your root folder]includes directory is not writeable. Please fix the permissions on this file and try again.

I'll let the Systems folk know to give permissions to the UBB App.

I set the permissions accordingly and was able to Disable HTTP Referrels. But new users who attempt to register still get kicked back to the board rules right after accepting them. Any other ideas.

Do you have age verification on AND user birthdates required? It sounds random, but there was a bug in an old build with both of those settings... Figure, since we're grasping at straws...

Another guess.
Since you had permission issues with the includes folder
double check all of them.
You can do that in the ubb control panel.
near the bottom left
Control Panel » Permission Checks
You should get a okay for all the folders.
You can also click on the ok/fail to see a list of files in each folder.

Just fyi,
The tool does not check all the folders for some reason that escapes me.
For example LIBS is not checked. And it is not noted in the install docs.
I do recall somebody here had a permission issue for a folder that it did not check.

I did not register again but I did get past the board rules today. So maybe you are good to go now.
