A few years ago, when the talk of 8.0 was hot, there was talk about being able to post by email.
Did anyone come up with how to do that? It could create some great content for me if I could do that, from various feeds that I get by email, and then have to copy and paste.

As I recall it was never going to be in version 8. It was talked about, but that was it. SD will need to comment on future upgrades. But I think the feature set is set in stone for 7.6. Unless SD can find some simple additions. Even though we got some features in 7.5.7 the 7.6 version is going to be a big one since it will require a import to change the format of the tables.
But myself, I am anxious for this feature. Where the posts are automated in some way, Via rss, email, etc. Maybe it will become a blog feature which was asked about also in version 8.
I think the number one item next is probably a mobile theme. My 2 cents. Waiting on Brooks or SD to comment.

Well, there are two ways of going about this...
Email Piping or Pop3/Imap client.
EMail piping would be the easiest, but requires your mail to be hosted on the server; when it's received the message is sent to a script and all is done there.
POP3/IMAP would allow users with mail "off server" to do the same thing, just it'd likely have to be a cron task (or the virtual "cron" we use to rebuild items on the forum when data is accessed).
Not an easy thing to do on either, but possible, but a lot of time...
