Have a friend who will be travelling up the West Coast next week and even though I've never been to Portland I recommended that he adds it to his list of cities to check out.

Any good places for him to visit while he's there for 1-2 days with his girlfriend? Any good places to add to a must-see list or streets/plaecs for a good time out in the evenings?

Lan Su Chinese Garden
Saturday Market
Oregon Zoo
International Rose Test Garden
Portland Art Museum

If it was summer time I'd recommend just people watching at Waterfront park, but it's still too cold for a lot of that...

There is a lot of shopping, we've got Clackamas Town Center Mall, Lloyd Center Mall, Mall 205 (which is kinda trashy), Pioneer Place Mall (right down town, on 4 city blocks), Washington Square Mall, and some various other shopping destinations.
