Hello all,
I had a question about search term modifiers. Is there a modifier that will make it search for just the term entered instead of any work that contains that term?

For example - say I want to find posts that contain the word, "ice". If I search for the word, "ice", it'll find posts with the word notice, iceland, etc. Is there a way to make it just search for the word, "ice", and not every word that happens to have "ice" in it?

Thanks,
B

OK - if no one knows the answer to this, is there a thread anywhere with "search tips" that are not already shown in the "advanced search tips" popup?

Thanks,

Sometimes it may take a day or two for someone to answer.

For you example I would use "ice " with the space and quotes.

Quotes also define a phrase.

+ is to make the term required +ice
- is to suppress -ice

This is from the advanced search tips:

Advanced Search Tips
Use +keyword for required keywords.
Use -keyword to exclude posts with a keyword.
Use quotes around a phrase to search for a phrase.
Use a * at the end of the word to match partial words.

Ahhhhhh.... Spaces! That's the ticket! Thank you! I could not figure out what use the quotes were, but it's all become clear now. I had to put it in as " ice ", but that worked perfectly! Thank you again.

Also - I reread my previous post and I see it comes across as impatient and/or pushy. That was not my intent. I was just trying to find a post about search tips and couldn't so I wanted to throw that in there.

Again, thank you, Abbott. You have helped immensely!

The only issue I have seen with phrase search is when you view the post, highlights don't work.

I noticed that, but as long as it's a way to get the search results I'm after, I can certainly deal with it!
