We have a rather interesting board with too many cooks in the kitchen. I am the board admin and function in that capacity. The owner of the company and the board is a "super admin" if that is the name, and he decided to add 10 moderators; seven mods and three admins. Adding a couple of support techs who are admins, we now have at least seven admins for one board.

That seems like a little much. Here I know Dave is the board admin, but he can also manage the board as well.

Some staff are made admins simply so they can carry out a function such as approve new users when that could be done through user groups. A new CEO was brought in and was immediately made an admin, which made absolutely no sense to me.

Anyway, because of this, I am on a committee to help decide just who should be what.

Prior to all of these additions and behind the scene admins, the actual moderators for moderating the board were one admin, one global mod and three moderators.

Any ideas as to what the minimum and most efficient way is. I know that each board is different. Thanks.

Honestly, the ONLY REASON you need an "admin" is to change settings in the control panel and do maintenance tasks like approve new members (I'm not sure if mods can do this as I don't use it); a Global Moderator is a moderator of all forums, that's what it was added for, it's how I described it to Rick when I was telling him how the feature should work.

I might also add, you can give mods and global mods the ability to edit users so they can ban users from the cp.
