Hi experts,
I have looked through the control panel, specifically the section on the portal to see how to add the calendar to the right side of the board.
I can only find the cache time, which I don't even know what that does. It is set at 10 minutes.
Thanks.
Bert

It's the last item under "Islands": Control Panel» Portal Layout

Thanks Pilgrim. Unfortunately, it isn't an option. I would have to add it.

Not there. This is at the top.
Note: The Private Calendar is not available outside of the portal.
There is a 10 second cache setting for The Calendar on another page in the section but no calendar option.

Using the current version. Goto: Control Panel » Portal Layout Public Calendar Elect where you want it to display. Right, left and position. Second step. Goto: Control Panel » Site Permissions Select Can create new calendar events Add a 1 to what group you wish to allow post entries.
the cache option just sets how often to update the calendar.
Oh, Note: The Private Calendar is not available outside of the portal. This is different than a public calendar-feature wise. Is just that, the private calendar is a feature that say I can create my own personal calendar and nobody else has access to it. I don't know why anyone would use it though.

stock islands should appear something like: Search Who's Online Newest Members Shout Box Top Posters Top Posters (last 30 days) Forum Stats Todays' Birthdays Featured Member Popular Topics Private Calendar Public Calendar
So something is amiss. Could be if you upgraded you did it incorrectly. Or as a new install same story.

Well, SD upgraded it, so I doubt it is incorrect.

Well it is incorrect as far as version 7.5.7 stock island features.
So you may want to contact him.

It could be as simple as a folder got wiped. But the features you indicate you have are not correct for version 7.5.7

Probably were screwed up to begin with. I suppose the new version doesn't just fix everything. I am just the board admin with access to the CP but don't know how to fix everything. Which is why I come here.

That is fine. But I would still contact SD and see if it is just a simple fix. Looks to be just some files need to be uploaded again. To allow you to access some of the newer features.

FYI, Nothing against SD. He is a super sharp guy. But it could be some fat fingers got involved in the process, during or after the upgrade.. And you just need some flies uploaded again.
PS, I doubt he missed something. More than likely something happened between the upgrade and now.

On the other hand, just like the Shout Box, how helpful is the calendar?

The calendar feature is subjective just like the shout box. What do you wish to include in the calendar? Just show member birthdays or have information relative to dates that give members a place to find items such as podcasts, events, etc.
