I would look at Healy's groups he is assigned to.
and check forum permissions for the group or groups.
Can post using HTML
and
Can post using Markup/UBBCode

As far as Gizmo's comment.
I believe there was a time out issue several versions back. Where if you take a long time to create a post, it would not create your post when you submit it.

Hopefully that will resolve the issues as well as stop needless html postings.

BTW,
Are you going to upgrade to version 7.5.7?

Besides bug fixes there are some security updates also.

A lot of bugs where fixed in 7.5.7, among them i believe this issue was repaired as well; you should really consider upgrading.

You need to quantify what a long post is.
I will try one at your site. but let me know what forum to post in.

What version of PHP is running on your machine?

Just a thought since you moved hosts.
In the language file Generic.php it has a char. set statement.
It depends on what you had before.
utf-8 or iso-8859-1
then what is the setting in your mysql database set up for in the forum database now.

Also what version of php did you have before and what version do you have now.

Another thought is possibly mod security?

Gizmo/Ruben,
I upgraded to 7.5.7 today.
PHP Version 5.4.19 now
generic file is now $ubbt_lang['CHARSET'] = "iso-8859-1"; and I checked old backups it was same

Not sure I understand
then what is the setting in your mysql database set up for in the forum database now. ???

Also what version of php did you have before and what version do you have now. Don't know..

Another thought is possibly mod security? ???

There are to many possible issues.
Jan 2013 it was suggested not to use php 5.4X by sd.
So that could be one.
If you are using iso-8859 and your new database is using utf-8 another possibility of corruption. you could check using like phpmyadmin open your database and see what collation is used on the tables.

Mod security. This is just a guess but since you are on a vps you probably could disable it, if it is used to see if it resolves the issue.
I highly suggest you either open a support ticket for help or hire somebody to help. Meaning one of the expert users here like Gizmo or SD or call your host for assistance.

the new db server is using UTF-8 and so is the old

That post you are referring to also had this info

Quote
ONLY SOLUTION:
Change UBB Code pop-up to UBB + HTML pop-up below it, and bring Copy & Pasted text in as Plain Text from Apple's

And if I use above then one can paste large amount into the forum without problem.. But then again we try to avoid html..

Contents List ~ The 6th Edition Triumph CD Collection

The Sixth Edition is again on DVD format, and has over 30 new additions to the collection plus some revision/additions to the Service Sheets.

As always, there are lots of memorabilia, reproductions of old advertising material , much material for the twins and triples of course (including a fabulous rebuild guide for the 63-67 650cc twins), a complete revision and addition of the Service Sheet Collection, and a whole lot of new material for the Service Section
– some of it originally “Dealers Only” stuff.

Again, I am indebted to many people for lending me material from their collections including Greg Snider for the TR5t, 1973 handbook, Simon Beard, and various others over the years. This Edition’s outstanding contributor is Peter Hemingway from Bristol, UK. Peter, I thank you more than mere words can say! Oh yes! Add Torsten Beck at Ago's Motorcycles, Residenz am Ulrichswäldchen, 61197 Florstadt, Nieder Mockstadt, and Randall Cadby in NSW.

What you have below is the Contents of the TRIUMPH DVD, folder by Folder.

The main SUB-HEADINGS reflect the Folder Names on the CD, the smaller Bold Print reflects the actual file names within the folders, the unbolded writing is simply the description of the actual file contents. Anything with the word NEW next to the file name is NEW to this latest edition.

Don’t forget, if you like this DVD we also do ones for BSA, NORTON, www.britbike.com/com/cdKim

IMPORTANT NOTE ON PRINTING
I have found that a very few customers have had trouble printing some of the pages on some of these files, where they come out as “mirror images”. This is apparently caused by some sort of conflict with some hp drivers and Acrobat 5 reader. You can fix it by sending your files to your printer as “images”. Or, obtain the latest printer drivers and Acrobat Reader off the net. Most customers have not encountered the problem, however.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE!!
There is a folder on the DVD which gives some extra details on the stunning Triton featured on the cover of the Triumph DVD.

Do take time to check it out.

ONE LAST THING.
I have always published the Contents List as an Adobe Acrobat document.

For this Edition I will also provide a WORD document so you can use Window’s search function to find some things easier.

TR25W This manual is, I suspect, RARE!! It is a “hand-made” and “hand-typed” (ie done on a type-writer, not typeset) Engine Overhaul Manual for the TR25W, dated June 1970. It looks like it was produced by Triumph in the USA as an “internal” aid for their own mechanics. It may be copied from other Triumph publications but looks like a “one-off” to me. I’ve been told by a mechanic who used it to reassemble a BSA 250cc single of the same year (1970) that it is BRILLIANT. For those of you who have a 250cc machine of this vintage, this book may be worth the cost of the whole CD.

Correct, the other bug post on the issue was months ago.

Has this been corrected? I have 500 plus posts not showing up. I have to go into PhpMyAdmin and copy the default text and remove all the apostrophe's. Once I do that the post shows up. Really annoying. Support ticket has not been answered in 2 months.

I assume you are also using PHP 5.4?
So that would be NO!
Since this forum is for user to user support your only recourse is to followup on your support ticket.
Yes, the vendor does visit and post on occasion but official support is with the vendor.

It's ridiculous to have to ask hosts to downgrade php, don't you think? How long before they will no longer comply?

Driv,
I agree with your statement.
But it is what it is with the current version.

The powers that be,can correct me if incorrect.
But at one time there was a post that stated that complying with the new version php would come with a import not a update as well as re-formating all the MYSQL tables to conform to current standards.

But we are still waiting on even tapatalk!
Let alone anything else.

Heres a wish for Tapatalk; it's really a huge request, especially since everyone (even the freebies) have it now...

Yes, I know mate; just constantly hoping that 'the management' here will take note...

But oh, wait - we are the vocal minority (apparently).

Well, I've done two exports/transfers to other software recently.

One was a very successful transfer to another well known (commercial) product.
Very happy with that one! (It was suggested to me by another member here.)

The other was 'ok' but not great. It was to a major player in the free forum software arena.
It worked, but I wouldn't want to use that software for myself.

ok - I've said my piece (and not advertised).

Forum works fine now for us after I downgraded to PHP Version 5.3.27

What I don't like is that I had to down grade, I paid for a gold license and expect the forum to follow the times and upgrade. If that is not happening no more then I would like to get that info so I can decide from there. Right now its just boring.
I'm still here thanks to Gizmo, Ruben and a few more who cares. Also as my forum members don't appreciate major changes to often..

Admin please inform us.. At least when Rick owned it there was an discussion..

I miss Rick's active discussions about what was happening, what direction the product was focused on, what was holding up development (even when it was smoke being blown up our butts), etc.

The version of 7.5.7 used by our message board was configured so that posters automatically defaulted to UBBCode Markup formatting only. Periodically, posters were coming up with blank / empty posts, other than their signatures. They were getting frustrated, too, making 2, 3, 4 posts (all blank except ...) until they gave up. Could be wrong, but I believe they were trying to copy / paste contents from emails, etc.

Our message board's owner believes that forcing UBB to use an auto-default of both UBB and HTML is a cure to the problem. Just tonight (10-31-13) he's opted to reconfigure that option so as to force the change.

Theory isn't tested to any extent yet. I accidentally tripped into this thread while trying to prove or disprove another problem we're encountering.

RIck- (I'm a different "Rick". My handle is followed by a hyphen, and I type the first two letters in caps. Long story. NOT trying to upstage the 'original' Rick.)

RIck- ("Rick" with a dash - the 'other Rick')

For the record... I also like the "smoke"... at least there's a possibility that "fire" might happen at some point. crazy

For what it's worth, I have resisted (refused?) to incorporate any Facebook links (or password substitution) into my forum. I don't think that creating that kind of "trust" is in my best interests.

In fact, I'm VERY suspicious of all other services (commonly known as Social Networks)... Beware of who you THINK YOUR FRIENDS ARE. Or in this case, who your business partners are. If you can't call your "partner" on the phone, why the heck would you EVER allow a security link with them??!

My 2 cents.
