i have a special group that i want to be able to delete threds. i am not sure how to do it. any help would be great thank you.

Other than make them moderators or global moderators?
That would be simple to do.

okay the other way then.

goto Control Panel » Group Management
First is create a group just for those members.
Then you need to go over all the permissions on the new group
to the right of the screen.
forum,site,cp.
There is a tool you will see to copy permissions from another group to save time but the key permission is in forum
and it is called"Delete any post"
change from 0 to a 1 for each forum you want the to have the ability.

Don't forget to review every setting ad change it as needed.

Add the members to that group
goto Control Panel » Member Management
search for the members
in the permissions tab check the box for the new group
select the update button.
do each member

i allready have the group, i had copied the permissions from global moderators to them, but i didnt have the delete any post boxes marked from 0 to 1, i juat did that and figured i would have it but nope. i became one of them and tryed to delet a post from the edit box went to delete post and got this message?

okay what do you have in forum permissions for the "Delete post time limit for that group.
it is in minutes.
make it a bigger number than the post you are attempting to delete.
a year would be like 525600

There also is a "Delete Topics" in the same permission page.
Which would require a 1 also.
Posts and topics are two different animals.

FYI,
Admins,Global Moderators and Moderators.
Even though there are permission settings for them.
Some settings are hard coded.
For example a admin can edit delete any post from any time period. Even though there is a setting.
They just get ignored even if you set the time or can edit to null.

There was a directive for future versions to adhere to all the permissions for all groups to stop the confusion.
But we are still waiting.

i have that set as 16777000 for both delete post and edit, both delete post and delete topics are all marked with a 1.

Okay I was playing with this a bit.
Seems without modding the scripts for the userob or regonly crap,I think it was what they call it.
It would be easier to just make them a moderator or a global moderator.
A global moderator is not assigned to a forum a moderator is assigned to a forum.

When I mentioned the Global Moderator permission to Rick before he added it in I defined the user roles as:

Admin - Full Access to CP and Site
GM - Admin of the Front End
Mod - Admin of a Section

But you can grant a mod/gm access to the CP with the permission system.
