Hi. I apologize for all of the easy questions.

If a moderator posts and makes it global. And, also locks it. If I make that moderator just a mod, but assign them to that forum; actually they seem to just be assigned to the global announcements, do they have enough power to do that?

Thanks.

First Item,
There is not a need to lock a global announcement.
Nobody can reply to one, other that a admin or the creator.
I consider that a bug.

That is why at this site you see a global announcement with a link to another post for replies.

But I Believe a global moderator can edit one if they have permission to do so.
Not sure about a regular moderator, since they have access to only their forum and the announcement may be from a forum they don't have access to.

Thanks. I guess it is actually a good thing. That way if you want replies you can do as you say, but if you don't then you don't need to.

Some announcements where you are talking about huge software changes, the addition of SQL 2012, etc. you don't really want a lot of rebuttal. But, like you said, a user generally starts a thread anyway.

I suppose I could make her a global mod. I am growing tired of making people admins so they can do little things such as approve users (never got the other thing to work so mods could do it) and here making the author of the announcements an admin just so she can edit it. She is up in administration, just got here and has no clue how to work with posts. I would rather she go through me. smile

It's how it was intended; Rick never coded in any type of permission schema for it since it could be seen in "restricted areas" so the "fix" was to just not allow anyone to post to it.
