I upgraded from 7.5.4.2 directly to 7.5.8 for my tiny community. It's been getting hit hard with spam at times, and I was hoping the new version would help.
I have the registration queue turned off, captchas on, test connectivity from stop forum spam showing green, and spam settings set to auto with message.
With all this, I still woke up to 2 spam messages on the board today, from users who showed bad IP and e-mail with stop forum spam.
Is there some sort of logging so I can tell if they show bad only due to being reported after registration? If this is the case, would be good to see a future enhancement also run a spam check the first X times the user tries to post.
Is it possible people are getting past if just their IP, or just their e-mail is marked bad? If so, how do I ensure people are blocked either way?
This unfortunately escalated this morning, enough that GMail returned 550 errors trying to deliver the "report spam by user" e-mail to a number of my moderators. Basically GMail classifies the spam reports as spam now, because enough have been sent.
