Hi all,
I am looking for an online forum replacement for an NNTP newsgroup, and am hoping that some online forum -- any online forum -- will have just a few of the abilities that I'm used to.
So far, UBB is the only one I've seen that has a threaded message view, and that's great. But...
1. Using threaded view, when I read a message, is there a way (hot key?) to automatically advance to the next message in the thread? I don't want to have to scroll down and click on each new message to read it.
2. Or, alternatively, is there a way to have the threaded list displayed at the top of the screen, rather at the bottom?
3. Is there a way to somehow indicate which messages have been read in the threaded view? When I look at the indented list of messages, the only message that looks "different" is the one that I am viewing at that moment. However, I'd like to be able to see which messages I've already read, so that I can open only those that are unread.
4. Is there a way to automatically jump to the next unread message?
That's all my questions for now... might have more later.
Thank you for any insight/help you can offer.
Best regards,
Sue P. Port Angeles, Wash.

No reply? Is no one monitoring these forums? It's better not to have forums than allow them to become ghost towns. From a marketing standpoint, it sends a clear message - our support is poor, and the product is probably dying.
I shall move on. <sigh>

Well most all users don't use threaded mode. Myself included.
Since I visit frequently I can't find a post with multiple replies. But there should be a indicator for unread. Such as bolded text.
So you probably need to be patient till someone that does use it replies.

Well most all users don't use threaded mode. Myself included. Exactly; not only do I not use Threaded mode, there are several issues (such as replies not linking as a child to items you may be replying to if using the Quick Reply box) that make things kind of "wonky". Basically, if you plan to use Threaded Mode, don't use the Quick Reply box (which IMHO is one of the more popular features that Rick got from ubbdev over the years). I can also state that I don't know a single forum that still uses Threaded Mode; which is funny since several competing products have removed the option completely and that's one thing that made Threads a big deal (you'll find a lot of users who converted to threads from Classic just demanded the classic features ported up (myself included) and never really got onboard with the whole threaded mode thing).
