I just wondered if the Character Limit will be increased on front-end, Forum Summary area where the 'Last Post' screens lurk, as the subjects are all artificially being truncated. Look at all that wasted spaced to the right there. I realise the legacy code is pre-Responsive website code era, but it's just a waste currently. e.g.

You can edit a file to make it bigger. Just bear in mind it was designed that way to allow for side islands. So it would not stretch out the center table and push the side islands off the screen. Currently you use just the left island so you probably can fudge it bigger than 26. Here is a old topic that still applies: https://www.ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/256309

As I see it there is lots of room in that column, at least on my forums. And it wraps fine anyways for lower screen resolutions. Anyways I found it. In case anyone else searches for it, it is in libs/functions_forums.inc.php. There is a variable there "subject_max_length". Thanks for old link above Ruben, As I only have Left menu island, I don't really care about Right menu Island (I just don't agree with them and feel they're bad interface design for Roman language which reads L-R, Top to Footer). I'm happy to fill the Last Post space with extra character count instead. Thus, have expanded the default from 26 to 46. PERFECT! Exactly what I'm after.

Keep in mind that with 7.6.0 we're focusing on mobile, and those additional characters may make your pages look more cluttered for mobile users.

There's exponentially more text (and sub headings) in the Forums column than in the Last Post column, plus true "Responsive" will delete characters off the viewing area as it shrinks the page, so it's a moot point in my eyes.
It's the Threads and the Posts columns that need to adhere better to "Responsive" as they're fixed, due to the headline font etc.

I think the point that Gizmo was trying to make, was that the mobile pages within 7.6.0 are intended to supersede whatever customizations you're making right now. Trying to get discussion forum pages to fit within a 320px width screen has been really fun.According to what Gizmo has seen of the 7.6.0 mobile pages already, his point is valid. Though, there are some updates that have not been merged in to the preview code that make this discussion purely an issue of preference, and will not affect 760's mobile pages at all. So, you both are right side notes - Mark, in 760, the "Re: " has been removed from the preview column, giving every forum 4 more chars to play with. Gizmo, I'm merging those updates in to the preview forum's code within the hour. (ubbdev.com = preview forum) EDIT: MERGED!
