Hello all,

I have been baffled for quite some time and in need of some guru assistance.

I am trying to add a live stream to the forum. Basically when a visitor comes to the forum they would automatically hear the stream playing.

I have been trying to use either Fox Sports, CBS Sports or ESPN Radio.

From my feeble and I say feeble because all attempts by me have failed, I should simply be able to embed a player and use the stream link and add it into the coding to have it work. Sounds simple enough but if so I wouldn't be here looking for help.

This is coding I have attempted to use amongst countless others:

<embed src="http://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/WUBRAM" type="application/x-mplayer2"

width="220" height="50" autostart="1" align="center" border="0"

transparentatstart="0" animationatstart="1" showcontrols="true"

showaudiocontrols="1" showpositioncontrols="0" showtracker="0"

autosize="0" showstatusbar="1" displaysize="false" />

</embed>

Note that the source is a link to CBS Sports Radio.

When I put the code in the HTML Includes area it pops up in the forum as just a solid gray box.

At this point, I don't know if it's possible to do what I want done or perhaps I am just way off on the embedding info I found on the net.

Please note, I didn't create the embed coding, don't know a thing about coding and pretty much am still a total dumbass when it comes to the tech talk. So please dumb it down for me if you reply and help out.

You can PM me or e-mail me directly. Any and all help much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Well, for starters, you're closing it twice:
Code
 /></embed>

The bit before the </embed> is already closed by the trailing slash.

Secondly, I can't even get this code to embed a player on a standalone page; where did you get it?

Lastly, are you sure that this station allows external streaming? Sometimes people take the embed code from sites HTML and assume it'll "just work" when some services don't allow external embedding.

I think Gizmo hit the nail on the head.
Even with a typo.
It appears the site uses a special jscript to run a player and the actual site does not allow public streaming.
You might want to research CBS Sports Radio and see if possibly another site can get you what you want.

FYI,
The type of player supported(mime) is what the visitor has installed on their computer.

Thanks guys for your response.

I have been searching high and low and found a site that not only had the player but a stream I could live with. Not 100% what I wanted but it beats nothing.

I am still on the hunt looking for the feed I want and you may be right that they have it protected or from allowing it to be restreamed. I've e-mailed them directly to see if they can or will provide an embed code. In years past they always had a stream link to put on your site but perhaps they no longer want to do it.

Thanks again..........

Live365 is probably going to be the easiest solution to get done what you're looking for.
