Can somebody tell me how exactly this works and how to get it to work.

I created a subscription, but not sure how to turn it on and to make sure it works properly.

What I am looking to do is create an area that people can give a donation and once they do that, they can access the area and receive information.

Appreciate some insight into how this works, how to make it work and then implement it.

I have never personally used it.
I dabbled in it but never went live.
But basically you assign groups to the subscription.
Then those groups you set permissions to use their particular forums you assign.
I know that mark s uses it or did and their was one other britbike.com I think.

It appears that you have not added a forum to use your new group newsletter subscription yet.
There are a few flaws with it but the big one I recall is you need to develop your own way to notify users to pay for it. like add a island with a paypal button and tell the what it is for.
Then you will know they paid via paypal and ubb I think.

I have a subscription set up for the group. I have an existing forum for the group, I just don't know how to tie the two together.

I think it will be easy for me to monitor because I can add people at the start of the week and remove them from the group at the end of the week based on Pay Pal donations.

I have looked in CP for permissions, set up etc etc but can't see how to make this all work.

well you first need to goto cp>Forum permissions.
You don't have any forums setup for the new group (subscription forums)
Either create a new forum or edit a existing one.
You can verify by going to cp>group management
Select the forums link across from the newsletter group.
You will see in each permission that it will show all of the forums and there is nothing in the field no zero or 1 or -1.
That means the group does not have any permissions set for any forum.

If you are editing a existing one then you probably want to delete access from the other groups.

That part is missing now.

I think I have it set up. What I did was create another topic. And the only way you can see it, is if I have granted access. You should be able to see it.
