UBB 7.6.0

This is about embedded YouTube videos.

Currently, YouTube videos that are 16x9 when viewed elsewhere are reduced to 4x3 when embedded in a UBB post (the 16x9 format is shown with a box that is 4x3). Also, when you are playing the video you cannot click to view full screen.

Not a huge issue, since you can click in the video to open it on a separate tab. But it would nice if UBB could support it.

PS: I upgraded to 7.6.0 a few day after it was released. We've had no issues.

When you upgraded to 7.6.0, did you also upgrade your old media tags to the be current?

  • YouTube Video

There are new Media Tags which support displaying videos on mobile devices. You will need to install these manually. After your forum has been upgraded, go to "Control Panel » Content Rebuilder" and select the "Custom Tag Editor" top tab. Next, choose "Import New Tags" from the bottom tab. And finally, browse to your local install/custom_codes/ directory from the "ubbthreads-XXX.zip" archive and select the "tags.php" file.

This will add new set of Media Tags to your existing set. The new items will be prefixed by "[new]". From this screen, you can also disable any tag which you dont want displayed on your forum. You should delete any of your old tags that were upgraded within the new set.

Thanks. I followed the instructions, but it looks like I might have missed something. I'll go back through them.

You must rebuild your posts if you change/add/remove any custom codes; as the parsed data stored in the database is stored with the old code applied.

You can hold off on rebuilding your posts until your forum traffic is slower, such as a weekend or late in to the night. Until then, your new posts will get the new code.

After you rebuild your posts, all of your older ones will also be brought up to use the new code.
