We would love to be able to tag another user in our post and for that tagged user to be notified they've been tagged. It would be incredibly useful for us!

If I understand you.
That feature is not available in a stock version.
This would be a modification to the scripts.
Which would come at a cost if feasible.
Where as far as I know there are only two people that provide that service now.

But you will need to elaborate on how you want this net new feature to work.
This site does not really support modifications to the code..

you type @user name at the top of or in the middle of a post and their name pops up (like facebook). And they get a special indication someone has tagged them in a post.

This may not seem as complicated as it actually is (since sites like Facebook have such implementations), but this feature would not be feasible for this product at this time due to the type of coding needed.
