The calendar box on the right side shows the correct date but if you use the calendar link on the top links it shows the next day ie today is the 17th as shown on the right, but the calendar link on the top shows the 18th.

Is this intentional?

The Portal Island/Side Box Public Calendar is generated based on the "Timezone For Guests" within the Control Panel > General settings page.

Its cache is updated based on the Public Calendar's "Portal Cache Settings" within the Control Panel > Portal settings page.

The actual Calendar page is generated based on UTC Timezone settings.

This site seems to have the same date issue.

The Public Calendar in the Portal/Side Bar here is in NY (UTC -05:00) Time Zone. The CP's Guest Time Zone setting.

Your personal profile settings have zero affect on that portal box, since it is generated once and cached to be displayed to all forum users until its cache expires.

Edit: You've apparently deleted your post just before I replied to it. Luckily I was able to capture it within a quote smile

Ok, so I'm on utc -5.00, the portal island shows the date as the 17th but the calendar link shows the 18th. Why?

Hey Isaac, kudos for the answer cool

Is this maybe a low-level bug to be sorted?

It's because UTC says it's 18, currently
RIGHT NOW:       3:51 AM 🙂

Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)

All of these options should be fully outlined in the Control Panel where we've spent countless hours providing examples for just about every configuration item. As you're not an administrator you've likely never seen these options, so most of this would be unknown to a standard user of a forum.

Where we welcome questions and suggestions from everyone, if you're going to post support inquiries please have a basic understanding of the default tools available to an administrative team by either being on an administrative team or owning a license to the software so you could operate your own copy of the software.

so UTC overrides any personal preferences in the members profile?

I tried this at around noon EST (in my profile settings) and the date was still 18th in the calendar link.

The calendar page is the live adjusted default time (UTC), the calendar island is a cached based on the Public Calendar's "Portal Cache Settings" within the Control Panel (its stored so multiple hits to every page don't send un-needed requests to the database).

Missouri is -6 GMT (Central Time Zone), so at about 6 PM you'll see UTC hitting midnight.

The forum default timezones and time data are all admin side, so there isn't anything a user could really do to make changes.

It is currently almost noon PST and the date in the calendar here is still the 18th, as expected.
