I notice on this forum site that the Text Line spacing is different.
From the sentence above and the sentence below the spacing is wider.
How is this done? I like it wider like is on this forum site.
The full editor spacing is tight, but after you preview or post it widens.

Thanks
Jorb

"line-height:1.5;" in the .body css tag for your forum's custom style.

If the line-height is changed to 1.5, will the change effect all existing/past or previous post/replies.
Or will this just effect all new post/replies going forward.

Thanks,

jorb

When you change anything in your style it is retroactive.

So you're saying all the existing/past replies will be changed to the new line-height:of 1.5.

Jorb, are you a user or do you actually admin the forum software somewhere?

The style editor within the site control panel allows you to create and modify forum styles (themes) by changing the website's CSS.

As a forum admin, you should visit different sections of your control panel and read the directions on those pages and how it changes your website/webforum.

I am a user of Stovebolt Forums.
Baldeagle is the admin for Stovebolt Forums
When I make suggestions to improve Stovebolt Forums, I come here once and awhile and past it on to Baldeagle.

I just notice the line spacing is easier to read here and was going to pass it on to Baldeagle.
I take it that the line spacing cannot be changed by the user while replying using the Full editor.
So I asked the question on how to do it and past it on to Baldeagle.

If the line-height is changed to 1.5, will the change effect all existing/past or previous post/replies.
Or will this just effect all new post/replies going forward?

Thanks,
jorb

The styling system is accessible only to the site administration and cannot be accessed by users. Changes to site styles affect the design of the forum, posts all use whatever style sheet that the admins have created/managed.

CSS is a coding language, and teaching one how to use CSS is outside of the scope for user to user support on these forums; please point yourself to one of the millions of search engine results for learning CSS here or the primer What is CSS? from w3schools.

These forums are here to assist forum admins with the general operation of their sites, we support the admin so they can operate their communities and make changes to their systems; we provide this support as volunteers on these forums. Users of forums should please direct their inquiries to your administration, as they're the only one who can make these changes to their systems, and we operate on feedback.

Posts for support here should be from the forum license holder, which is generally whomever can make filesystem, styling, and database changes which is usually the site owner; we do not delegate to separate support channels. The users posting need to be users capable of making changes.

So I am not allowed to make suggestion and pass them along to the admin?
FYI there is a possibility that someday I will become the sites admin.

The forum you linked to is using a really old version of a stock UBB.threads style (theme) as its DEFAULT site style. The best way you can help out that forum is to suggest that they update their forums with the current version of that style.

By looking at the default style name on stovebolt, "ubbthreads-stock", they are using a style from around 10 years ago.

Write to your forum admin and ask that they update their default forum style to the current version of that style, which is now named "UBBT70 - Light." This is a basic maintenance task which doesnt seems to have been done on that forum for many years.

"UBBT70 - Light" retains the same general appearance, but its been updated for modern browsers and mobile devices. It also includes several code fixes and all the updates required for displaying correctly with the current version of the forum software they are using.

Stovebolt's current style is from around 2005 - 2007 - "ubbthreads-stock"
The current version of that style is named "UBBT70 - Light" amd it was last updated July 1, 2019

1/ go to styles page in the control panel.
2/ import style. click submit.

optional/suggested:
1/set that new style as forum default.
2/disable the undesirable styles.

Just remember since you are not the owner.
Don't be disappointed if they reject your suggestion.
But it is a simple minutes only process to do this.

Ruben,

Thanks for the warning.
In the past they implemented a few of my suggestions.
I'm not to sure line spacing is on the top of their list at the moment.
All I can do is ask.

Thanks,

jorb

Admin claims there is no "UBBT70 - Light"
So he changed it to UBBT77.
Is his claim correct?

He is correct in that the update only came with ubb77
But if he goes to the member section he will find updated style packs he can download and import including ubb70-light
If you check at the bottom of the page here where you as a member can change styles you will see they are installed on this forum

As Ruben pointed out, license holders have access to a private landing page here at UBBCentral to download the software package, addons, and styles; as such, the licensed owner of the site will need to access it in order to update their stock styles or forum software (see the attached screengrab sample).

Additionally, other styles can be purchased or downloaded from 3rd parties.
