Hi

I am having trouble with standard emails coming from UBBthreads.
in this case it is a standard email with subject "Your Registration Has Been Approved". is caught as SPAM.
I don't know what causes it however I suspect strongly that the subject using capital beginning letter in each word is one.
Please in next version only use capital letter for the First word and not in every word.

Thank you for listening smile

PS I altered the templates in earlier versions of UBBT but in this last 7.7.5 version it went back to stock language.

Cheers.

Have you tested your email from UBB with a test tool like:
https://www.mail-tester.com

There are several around.to use.

FYI,
Most show a couple of errors because we are using a php script and there is not a unsubscribe.

CAPITALS, Title Case, or Sentence case should have zero impact on flagging something as spam in regards to email filters; you can try this yourself by modifying the language string to show whatever casing you'd like, that's why there is a language editor.

CP -> Display -> Languages -> mailer.php -> "DAUA_SUBJECT" string.

This will not be changed in the future, it's never been an issue before and admins are welcome to customize their language strings.

+1 with Gizmo.
Probably has to do with using cloudflare where something is amiss in the dns record.
Or possibly ssl
That is what I found for myself
I have the same issue at times.
With outlook it is hit or miss , sometimes it comes as spam sometimes not.
But I improved results using the tool I suggested.
It will also tag if the email is blacklisted from common IPv4 blacklists

I’m not sure but I think the only one we have had these problems is relay.mailchannel
I think I have addressed it before for one or two years ago
And our host Interserver support gave me advise not to use Capital Letters in emails it was one of five items to follow . Mailchannel which had same info. I don’t have it in front of me now but at the time I made changes in ubb language editor but it came back with 7.7.5 as I forgot to keep my language files.

I will look into your suggestions and and see if I can make it better but please listen to the Capital Case suggestion as it’s not me but the trade who say one should not use it.
With that info
I think It would be better if the opposite was default.
Cheers

I would love to see some sort of industry proof here; Title Case is pretty standard for email subject lines... Again, industry proof, not some guy working first level helpdesk...

MailChimp, for example, sends all of their emails as Title Case and I've yet to hear about their mail blasts being flagged by mail filters for using Title Case in them.

Bottom line, modify your forums to work how you see fit; unless I see some RFC's or guidelines by big names in the business I'm not going to recommend anything but Title Case.

In any case all of this seems speculative; any bounce backs should have a denial reason in the email headers; these should point to the precise cause of any email bounce-backs and what causes them.

Ah I was starting to look for the old messages when this came

Quote
That response is actually coming from 'btinternet.com'
So mailchannels can not fix it either. I suspect btinternet.com has no one responding to complaints, except perhaps an actual customer of btinternet.com.
John Quaglieri
InterServer, Inc

Not an answer but I have Johns attention now.

I'll keep looking for info.

Sounds like btinternet.com may be an authority in charge of the mail server for the users domain; what was the full header of the email bounce? That should include things like the reason for the bounce, time and date of the message(s), etc.

It would appear that they (mailchannels.net) are "grading" your domain to see if you're a spammer:

It would appear there is 0 to 1% chance of a possibility of the message being spam, according to the supplied headers. You'd likely want to contact the organization in charge of the spam rules for the target server for clarity; this isn't anything to do with UBB.threads other than the message body.

Gizmo, I have changed the mailer.php not to use all caps.

Tried to find the industry proof source that you asked for and couldn't find it now only a text I had saved in a text file.
I will monitor my rejections in the future.
Thanks anyway.

The mails may be detected as spam due to its spam contents. Each email is evaluated and rated according to spam rules to determine how likely they are to be actual spam. The mail servers will evaluate both the title and body content of the message to ensure there are few, if any, references to popular spamming terms.

Please make sure that the below points are followed:

> Don't use the word "free" too many times.
> Don't use ALL CAPS.
> Don't use lots of colored fonts.
> Only use one exclamation point at a time!
> Stay away from words you'd see in spam: Viagra, drugs, porn, guaranteed winner.
