Our hosting company just updated our OS from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8. After the update, I was getting access denied when I tried to access the forum. I found this old thread from 2011, disabled friendly urls, and it fixed the problem.

I have control of the server. What do I have to do to reenable friendly urls? (I'll do some searching, but if anyone knows off the top of their heads, let me know here.)

UPDATE: Adding AcceptPathInfo On to both the .htaccess file and to the httpd conf file did not fix the problem. For now, friendly urls will have to remain disabled.

I linked to that in my OP. As I also noted in my update, adding AcceptPathInfo On to either the .htaccess file or the httpd conf file did not fix the problem.

UPDATE: I have been unable to resolve this issue. Adding AcceptPathInfo On to both the virtual host conf and to the main httpd conf has not resolved the problem Any ideas on where to look would be most appreciated. Am I misisng a .htaccess file for ubbthreads?

For me it is set via php.ini

cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1

You can see if it sets in phpinfo

I don't know what happened, but SEF urls suddenly began working. The hosting company doesn't know what happened either.
