Is there a way to include some kind of pop-up for users that just acknowledges their consent to use cookies? Or maybe this is already in place with the newest release of Threads?

Many thanks! Can this be used to offer acceptance of cookies used by Threads so that if a user doesn't agree then they won't be able to register/log in?

i dont know anything about that, other than whats in the description i read moments before posting here. its a 3rd party script, having nothing at all to do with ubb.threads

as for cookies, if the user has cookies disabled on their end, ubb.threads will not work for them. no logging in or remembering what page they are interacting with.

cookies are basically a requirement for any website that you log into and interact with.

Agree 100%, cookies are a necessity if someone wants to stay logged in, but nowadays some jurisdictions want you to inform users about the obvious and have them click that they accept this.

It's easy to alter the registration page to include info on accepting cookies as part of the conditions of signing up, but maybe a checkbox when logging in would be useful for forums with users in such countries (even if as an option for the admin to turn on/off in the CP)?

Sorry, I just logged out to see the reg page and there is a checkbox to stay logged in, so just changing the text is probably all that is needed to comply!

Unfortunately if you were to turn cookies off you would be unable to login, stay logged in, or do pretty much anything...

A JavaScript "approve cookie use" code from freely online would be the perfect scenario, as the site just won't work if they don't allow cookies to be set. I myself have used the one at shareaholic before but it works the same as Isaac's suggestion.

The usable internet requires cookies, just disable them in your browser and let me know how fast you re-enable them while you're trying to use the internet as you would normally.
