Installed v8 successfully, so it appeared.
dbl checked all perms

Try to log in with the admin credentials I created , it takes me to the forums page, shows not logged in. It does not complain that credentials are bad. I've tried in 2 different browsers and also in private browser modes.

Looks like BUG: At this point when I didn't get logged in, I tested Registering a new user. It took the new registration. When I logged in with this new user, it flagged it as the admin account, and the admin account I original created didn't show.

FYI: I've installed several times since, and each time I cannot login as my admin account. I've tried to duplicate Registering a new user and it will not do that either.

The was for the bugs forum, a different entry. Previous was for help, this was to report to developers. If I got this wrong, please let me know but they need this

Its your server; I'm not sure what is causing the issue, but it's not a bug with the registration system but it is an issue that needs to be worked through, likely through the Support Desk (Isaac and I are the 3rd party developers responsible for this product; official support goes through the Vendor through the Support System here who does not frequent these user to user forums).

I'm wondering Why then it would assign a New Registered User the admin rights and title. That doesn't sound like server side to me.

And again, the first created user on your forum is an admin.

It sounds like you need to start from scratch, no db no files uploaded, then upload a fully stock, not modified install (we again do not support modifications to the base files, since you've done changes before we have to ensure they are fully stock from the unedited archive you downloaded here at UBBCentral).

IMPORTANT FIND:
You stated above "And again, the first created user on your forum is an admin."

I looked into the sql db and my admin acct was #2. The user showing # 1 user name is DONOTDELETE , password "badpass" membership "user" Not sure why

User #1 is a placeholder used internally as a guest user. User #2 will be your first registrant on your install.

Following the install guide under 'Set File & Directory Permissions' under Linux, I set that whole list as shown.
There are a few directories uploaded from the new v8 file that were not covered in this list to change permissions on.

After 4th install today I got in!

I'm a bit leery to disconnect now. It could be a browser issue, just guessing. Here's what happened so far.

- Checked sql db and admin account I created showed up
- Tried logging in as admin in Firefox, no go
- Cleared Firefox cache and tried, no go
- Tried Logging in with Microsoft Edge, no go
- Cleared cache in MS Edge and tried, no go
- Tried Firefox Private browser, no go
- Tried MS Edge inPrivate browser and it worked, I got in!

- I've created 2 categories and a couple forums to test, all good
- I've activated portal and successfully obtained my columns and a couple sample column objects
- Problem with activating portal, it took 6 times before it help the settings. Possibly do to gong thru VPN? not sure

- cp cleared board cache

- Created new user in CP > Users and it worked.
- Tried to log into new user from both browsers including Private, no go
- Used my phone to log into new user acct , successful

Must be some sort of cache issue?
Making backup now!
