How does the php language update work (included in the language folder of the php version)?
I have some heavily modified language files and this thing looks promissing.

You mean how are they compared to the PERL version? You can't just plop the PERL language files into the PHP version because of different syntax. In php you would use [ instead of {' and ] instead of '}, so a typical language string looks like:
$lang[thisstring] = "this is a language string";
However, it may be that I didn't quite understand your question;).

No. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

What I meant was for the "update" file that is in the php/language/ folder. It looks like a perl file without the .pl extention. I think you must have used it to convert the perl language files to the php files (quicker!). I was wanting to use it as well to do the same thing. So, do I just rename it to update.pl, upload it to my still existing perl wwwthreads installation and run it? Does it automatically generate the *.php language files taking the information in the *.pl ones? If so, it doesnt change the .pl files, right? just create the php ones that I can then copy to my php language folder?

Ah, I see. Actually the update file is a mass update tool for all of the languages. I didn't actually mean to pack it with the distribution. You could use it however. Basically you copy all of the .pl language files into your PHP language directory and then run the update tool. It will create the .php files and remove the old .pl ones.
