Because it may be sometime before a beta of the php port will be available (there are over 150 scripts to be ported), I'm thinking of making nightly snapshots available to the registered users. Before I take the time of setting this up I just want to see if anyone would be interested in it. Thoughts?
I would be *VERY* interested also. My site is using PHP as its base and the only Perl it is using is WWWThreads. So I wouldn't mind to have access to the snapshots, in fact it will help me a lot.
Ok, I take that as a yes:). I'll setup a snapshot program tommorow, that will tar and zip the php development directory on a nightly basis and put a link in from the licensed users area.
Basically you can just stick the php files into an area that is php enabled area. You would change the config.inc.php to point to your existing 5.1 database and then you are good to go. Obviously you couldn't have it live because many of the scripts won't exist yet, but it will give everyone a chance to see how it works, how it is being coded, etc.
I'm a whole 14 hours (or something) late on this reply, but... YES!

Same here Fhutow. There used to be a time when Perl was all I used but once I got my hands on the Beta of PHP 2.0 that was the end of Perl usage on my sites. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
Well there is a link to the php version on the port php forum description... what can we see in the screen shot we can't see in the php version we can access from the link ?
The type of snapshot I was refering to was a code snapshot, not a screenshot:). Each day a script tar's and gzip's all of the ported scripts into a tarball so registered users can download it, set it up, see what direction it is going, etc.
