UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support Weird "boxes" display problem with Netscape on certain threads.

View the following thread in Netscape 4.x and see the strange "boxes" you get for all the letters. I've never seen anything like this and am at a loss as to what is going on. It doesn't happen on every thread, there are only three that I know of with the problem. Everything works fine in IE (of course).

What specific version of Netscape? Don't forget that certain versions of Netscape through the 4.72 & 4.76 series were spotty on CSS support. 6.0 and beyond do a better job but not perfect.

I know those versions of Netscape have problems, but why would it only appear on three threads out of several thousand?

Perhaps those threads were corrupted somewhat during the import from your UBB? And those stray corruptions are displayed on Netscape as 'boxes' while IE simply ignores them as 'garbage'?

Jason my Netscape does that when it tries to change from one characterset to another, or when I view a page with dhtml in it, then leave that page.

A slide out or pulldown menu for instance. You knw those things people use for mavigation sometimes? I can view the menu, but when it slides back to the border my whole screen gets those little blocks as you describe. It will nto go awau until I restart Netscape. Is there something on that page with DHTML that I didn't notice?
