Hi I'm new to this, trying to get a trail install setup to test out, my isp has given me some temporary space and set up MySQL for me but naturally I'm having problems. I think my problem has something to do with the paths and URL's. When I enter the following which I know is correct!! (I checked the paths in Transmit) path, imagepath and stylepath fail. I use a mac (OSX.3) and I'm installing on an NT server (maybe this is relevant)

Your problem might be the paths, they look much to short. The path should be the whole path from the servers root. Which your FTP program might not show you the whole thing.

You might want to verify that with your provider, the actual path from the server's root to your webspace.

Depending on the server setup, it's often something like

/home/sites/www/htdocs/mysavings_Admin/

Sorry not to get back to you earlier, Groupee would not let me log in!!!!. My isp gave me a more detailed path that worked. I got as far as table creation, I then tried to delete altertable, createtable.php and install.php. I could not find altertable scripts in my ubbthreads folder so I deleted install.php and createtable.php then clicked the link that says newuser script and got a blank screen.

So..... I'm moving further down the line - can you tell me what to do next?

A blank screen generally is a missing language file.

Make sure you uploaded the /languages directory and that permissions on those directories and what's inside allow those files to be read.

Thanks, the english files were missing I uploaded them and got my isp to change permissions on them and that worked I'm just waiting for my password so that I can start administration.

BTW do you have any idea why I can't change file permissions?

Thanks, I've been waiting two days for an email with a password, nothings arrived yet. My clients are not happy, I'm not happy!!! it looks like I will have to ditch ubbthreads and setup something else. It's a real shame because it looks ideal but I can't afford to wait any longer. If nothing happens befre this weekend 25/1/04 I'll have to move on. I do hope something can be done because I hate to waste all the work I've done on this. I will try filling in a support ticket to see if anything happens.

Who are you waiting on a password from? Infopop Member area access (after a purchase)?
