Yay! I am finally back on infopop! I didn't select my Birthday and got caught in the COPPA mess. I'm back! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for any help anyone can give me! I am "upgrading" to Threads, or trying to, and having so many problems. I am disappointed in the Threads Control Panel, and a bit spoiled after Classic, I guess. I miss so many features!
The user features are awesome, but not so, for the admin and mods?
OK, here is a list. If anyone can help me, I'd so appreciate your views and expertise.

There's tons here, I apologize ahead of time...

I uploaded a graemlin in the cp, and it shows as a missing image. It is in my host directory. The directory path seems correct, unless I am missing something. It shows as a missing image.

How do you find user's last posts? I used that feature so much to find the bad guys, and track their IP history, in Classic. It's got to be here, because the database tracks it, correct? In UBB Classic, you look up a user, and it displays all of their last posts and IP's right next to it. In this one, the only way I can find, is by clicking on their profile, and there, it does not show IP addresses.

On the old board, I have guides and charters who post reports on their own forum. I made them moderators on Classic, so that they could "pin" their topics. This way, when a user goes to their forum, three days later, it will still show a post, rather than look empty. Some users don't realize they can adjust the forum, to "show all topics" and thus go away, thinking there is nothing there. They are "read only" forums. Today, I made each one of them a "group" with read write permissions and assigned them their forum. This took three hours! So, my question is, do they need to be moderators, too? I figure that I could just pin their topics FOR them. Right? I hesitate to take them down, but it would reduce my worries over people getting information off the admin panel that could be shared with people not intended to see it.

Things are so different! I really don't want all of the charter and guide moderators accessing all of the user information. I had someone build me an htaccess password protect on the admin panel, but then the mods could not delete a post without a password. So, that didn't work. They have to be able to delete posts for the class ads.

So, on I go... I've been keeping notes for days.

In the registration Queue ... the registration IP appears to be from the server, not the IP of the new user. That isn't useful. We need the IP they register from, not the IP of the server the form is on. It would make life difficult not to have IP info. Search for IP doesn't seem to work.

It would be nice if new registration notification e-mails included more information. In Classic, we received Member number, Moniker, e-mail address, and by default, the time and date of the registration.

In Classic, if a registration was denied we could go into the member database and reactivate the registration. I don't see that ability in Threads. With as many as 25 registrations a day, it's important to purge the non-confirmed people fairly quickly to prevent the queue from becoming too long. But currently, slow responders can be reactivated.

List of Member Posts ... Was / click Number of Posts ... now must drill into profile ... how make easier?

Bad Word List ... how do {youdo}, like it was in Classic? Ours was extensive as children visit our site. If anyone out there has a good list of words, we would love it. We have a lot of children accessing the site, and we need to keep it clean.

Moderator Alert only sends notice to Administrators, doesn't include explanatory note. We used to be able to comment on why we were alerting. Is this not the case, in Threads? How do we know why someone is alerting us? We need this feature so that people can tell us to delete a classified ad.

Not clear how to prune to an archive.

OK, User Profiles ...
In Classic we can:
- lock profile
- add or remove from registration queue
- disable ability to post
- disable ability to participate in polls
I don't see any of these abilities in Threads. Are they hiding? It will be hard to manage the membership without the ability to turn them on and off or restrict them by locking their profile for a while. That's how we do things. Are they not available as options?
-------

So, knowing all the trouble I am having, is it worth "upgrading?" I feel like the CP is a definite downgrade from Classic, or do I just need to get to know it better?

I'm tired. It's late. Maybe I'm just negative, but after a week of playing, I'm almost ready to give up. Both the cash I spent, and the time.

(Feel free to offer inspiration and encouragment, here!)

You guys and gals have always been so helpful. Thank you ahead of time, for any advice.

Thanks, too, to JC, Kristi, Allen and Josh, for their patience with me when I run into problems. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> They are all wonderful and I appreciate them!

Just responded to your email - so I won't re-iterate here. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
