Hi All,

Just wondering how long it should take for the update of a template to be shown live?

I have changed the "Header Insert" (deleted a graphic) but when I check the live page nothing has changed.....even after a CTRL F5 !

Any thoughts what maybe going on as the change was done about 30 mins ago?

I also tried turning off the caching function. Using Version: 6.3.1.1 (14. August 2002, rv1.23.2.9)

Thanks.....

It should be instant. There's no caching involved with templates or headers.

The "header-insert" is for items which would go in the <head></head> tags of your page (not HTML) - things like javascript and meta tags, so if you've designed a header for your site, it should be in the "generic header".

This section already had the code in it and was displaying the images no problem but I shuffled the images (changed the file names) and on the live page its hasn't changed which is why I thought it was caching!?

Still no luck!

Hi Karl,

If you are viewing your page via an Internet connection, some providers serve web pages from cache (to minimize their bandwidth) and do not go to the Internet each time you request a page.

Sidebar:This also will affect page counts in your logs.

Look at your code on the page that isn't refreshing correctly and see if it is the code that you would anticipate. If not, try a different ISP and see if it is different (or call a friend with a different account).

Hope this helps.

I tried checking the page from another PC using a different ISP but the page hasn't changed. I am suspecting the code is incorrect so the system isn't making the changes.

I am not proficient with HTML and when I took over the changes for the Board to add another image I just copied the previous lines and changed the links in the code etc.

It's not working this time though. I tried pasting the HTML into Front Page and editing in HTML and it all looked good but still won't work. I know I'm doing something wrong.....it's not a complex header I am doing, just 4 images.

This is what was in the "Header Insert:" section originally..............

You put this under "generic header", correct?

Then edited each forum's settings to use the generic header?

Or, if your forums are usiung custom headers you have edited these custom headers?

I looked at Karl's code at:

http://www.clearhearing.net/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

He has some HTML code in the <head> that isn't going to work.

Thank you to everyone for your help/suggestions! <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I finally figured it out.....the previous administrator had setup a seperate Style Template for the main page and of course that wasn't the one I was editing was it!! doh

At least I have a bit more knowledge on UBB now!
