Can I export a 6.2.1 Threads Forum to an Eve Shared Community Plan?

Hi

I'm the Administrator of a UBB Threads Forum currently hosted on my ISP's Webspace. There has been many problems with this arrangement as of late including lack of speed and bandwidth limitations.

Is it possible to move my Forum complete as it stands to an Eve Shared Community Plan?
I would hope to retain:-

  • all avatars
  • all customised Post Titles
  • Retain the number of posts from each user
  • Customised look (You'll probably need to check out my Forum to see what it looks like to decide this but including Paypal & Amazon donation buttons, new Header, colour scheme, cutomised title bar etc
  • Sub-Forums

Given speed is an issue at present what kind of performance can I expect on the Shared Community Plan. Please be honest.

Hello Andy_G,

The Infopop importer system (used by all three products) only supports members, forums, categories, and posts. No other data, including styles and settings, can be imported at this time.

Copying over your board header and footer, titles, etc, should be a simple copy & paste operation.

Avatars will be slighly more complex to copy over. Keep in mind that I am not an Eve expert, so I may be completely wrong here... but last I checked, Eve expected all of the images to be numbered sequentially and share a common file extension. You would need to identify all of the custom avatars that you have added, number them, and place them in a custom directory for Eve's use.

Also, you must be running version 6.4 of UBB.threads for the upgrade to succeed. (While it is possible to import previous versions through the use of a custom-built import specification file, we don't have any on hand for older versions. If your Member Area subscription has elapsed - sometimes we are able to provide you with the latest version for the purpose of upgrading prior to the export. You should ask about this via a support ticket before taking the plunge.)

Being a hosted platform, we try to make sure that Eve operates quickly at all times. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

For more information on Eve, you should head over to Community and ask there. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Also, it is very possible to run UBB.threads on an Infopop web hosting plan - you can move your board over now, then decide whether or not you wish to use Eve at all after experiencing it first hand.
