As the Admin; under the control panel under member information (selected user1) I click the "Send Password" user1 gets an email with a new password but when user1 tries to use that password he can not get in. user1 tries his old password and it still works.

What am i missing here?

That's a bug, slated to be fixed in the 6.5.1 release.

is there a work around I can put into place? until 6.5.1

you can try 6.5.1b5, there are some modifiction for the email function included

I wish i could but it seems i cant get my hands on beta application.

6.5.1b5 is public avaible in membersection. But the beta have some other problems if you take a look in the beta forum.

Since my finished product doesn't work (6.5), how could I possibly trust a BETA with a long list of bugs? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

I don't want to trade one set of problems for another.

It would be great if we could just get the code fixes for some of these things, but I guess it just can't work that way. To get a simple fix, you have to take all the other bugs in the next version. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
