After upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5 our users cannot maintain a login between sessions. It is as if persistent login is not enabled or as if cookies are not passed to enable same.

Any clues?

Okay, just to clear up initial questions... The board is configured to be using cookies & sessions, correct?

And does this happen for all users (including you) or just some? If some, about how many?

Hi Kate

$config['tracking'] = "cookies";
$config['cookiepath'] = "/";
$config['cookieprefix'] = "";

"Use Persistent Connections?" is enabled in the Database Config page of the Control panel.

I experience this as the admin and as a regular user. My users are also complaining widely.

Persistent connections has nothign to do with log in, it's whether or not PHP/apache should maintain a persistent connection to your database. In most cases that's not a good idea.

Can you post the location to your board so we can look at it, check the cookies, and look at a few otehr things? You've left it out of your posts and profile.

Are you and your users are checking the "Remember me on each visit." box when you first login?

Just trying to eliminate the obvious reasons. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have checked this box by default. I will make an announcement that our users check as well. I believe that on 6.1, this feature was static and not selectable.

I suspect it's the number of forums that you have creating the problem, coupled with the post tracking but in 6.5. Version 6.5.1 will be released as beta into the Member Area this week. Our testing has shown this to be fixed, but we could really use some feedback from sites such as yours where the bug has presented itself.

Normally I would never suggest running the beta in a production environment, but in this case I think it may help you and your users.
