Is it possible to display an optional timestamp with the posts?

I see all the chat, but I've no idea when or how long ago the conversations were. It would be a nice point of reference if I could see when they were posted.

Put your mouse of the username. It gets too clutter if you display a timestamp with each of them

I'm not sure I follow. Nothing happens in IE7. It's just a hyperlink to the user profile. But I understand about the clutter.

The time is held in the title attribute, so it'll appear in a tooltip

They show up for me with IE6. Do you have your settings set to show the tooltips?

Hmm, Drac is correct. It's not appearing in IE7. Will get that fixed up.

Yes. I have tooltips for other parts of the site. But no tips inside the shoutbox (as you've noted in your follow-on post.

Hey, instead of putting it on the username (where most users won't figure it out), how about just putting a very small clock icon next to the username and mousing over that would give you the time of the posting. Just a thought.

OR, you could just put the latest date stamp in the TITLE of the Shout Box - Box. No clutter there.

I can see getting this question a few hundred times.

I'll go with whatever you all think is best. My resolution is 1920x1080. You could put the full date in the shout box, next to every post, and it still won't be cluttered for me.

Keep in mind that not everyone will be browsing the net at a huge resolution; in fact, a good rounded resolution would be 1024x768 (50% of my visitors utilize this resolution)

I think I may be able to change it so if you hover your mouse anywhere over the cell that contains the shout it will popup with the time. That way if they get their mouse anywhere over the shoutbox they'll see the popup.

Has anyone else noticed the lag time in loading the shout box?

It doesn't happen every time. But I leave my IE window open all day and when I come back and try to access one of the forums, the page stops responding for a good 10 seconds. It seems like it is trying to populate the shout box. And it only does this once. After the lag, the page comes up just fine and I don't notice it again until I step away from my computer for a bit and come back to the site.

I checked the generation stats below and all the times displayed well under a second.
