Quick question...I might have an issue with a person I might have to ban soon. He's been spreading news that if he's banned, he will become a troll regularly "because there's nothing they can do about it.." since he uses proxies...

Is there a way I can ban him, proxy using or not? Is there a special banning option that I haven't seen yet? I'm using 6.0.3 until I get upgraded..

Any help would be appreciated.

Banning someone on a proxy is pretty much impossible. You can ban by username and ban by IP. If their IP is always changing then that's about it. You could require approval of new memberships before they are active, and maybe you could spot him.

There are some mods at threadsdev.com to help detect duplicate users by cookies, (Multiple Identity Detector) but your version is so old, not sure if any of the old instructions kicking around would help.

Thanks Josh, I don't suppose you could provide me a link or information on upgrading the forums to a new version. Right now, Im running the forums at Cinescape.com and right now in magazines restructuring, costs are important...so I would like to know the price of this before I take it to the owners of the magazine..

Your member area access with infopop would need to be current - if you're not current, then I believe current member area renewal is $99. It depends on your license and when you originally bought threads. Click on Member Login on the left and login with your license number etc.... to see when your license expired etc....

If you're not a do it yourself type of person Infopop offers professional upgrade services, or consultants like me through ThreadsDev can also offer this service, as well as the additiona of modifications and hacks as I mentioned above.

JoshPet is correct (mostly). The cost for a 1-year Member Area renewal for UBB.threads licenses is $125. You can see pricing & order by clicking the "Pricing & Order" link on the left.
