Hi, we have an older version of UBB Threads 6.1.1. We learned today of the recent exploits and sadly we had unusual behavior on our forums the same day, June 24th. Our concern is twofold. As a small not-for-profit we do not have the $99 budgeted for an upgrade (the old one was working fine) but mainly do not have the funds to pay someone to install a "beta" and then pay again to reinstall a "stable".
I have noticed some issues posted with the beta about private group forums etc. and we have those. We have closed the forums completely as a temporary measure but we are wondering if there is either an ETA for a "stable" release so we only have to pay someone to install once, or if there are any functions that can be disabled or other temporary fixes that will allow us to open the forums without risk? They are very important to our members.
Our host (who knows nobody else using UBB, I wonder why they are no longer popular as in 02 when we got our original?) also wants to know if these exploits could have allowed access into the server itself or just our site if they were used. We have had no problems but of course we are concerned as is our host who is unfamiliar with UBB Threads.
Any explanations or help in layman's terms would be greatly appreciated.

This makes me very sad. We have enjoyed UBB but nobody here answers & not many people seem to use it anymore. I went to one of the "award winning" InfoPop examples" since I recognized the site and it was not even an InfoPop product, they were using something else now. Not good when what UBB uses as an "award winner" is something else now.
I would have expected some kind of response or at least a "you posted in the wrong forum" by now.

hehe, you posted on the weekend, if it were me I'd expect an answer by this evening.

DDT: the version you're running was released 2 1/2 years ago... while i am not sure about temporary fixes for the issues you speak of, i can tell you that 6.5.1.1 is available in the Member Area, and you should upgrade. you don't have to upgrade to a beta version - 6.5.1.1 is stable. alternatively, you can wait for the 6.5.2 release to come out of beta.
