Upon finsihing the installation process, the tables were created and there was a link to create the admin account. Unfortunately I was not givwen the name and email from my client yet, and it took a week to get it.

Now I cannot get back to the page where that link was. How do I create the admin account (and how do I verify it if my email is not the one being used, it's the client's email address, can I use mine for now and change it later?) now that I can't get back to that page? Is it the /ubbthreads/newuser.php file or is that just for regular users of the boards?

That should work - the first user created after install is automatically the admin. So hitting "new user" on the site should do it for you. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

So will I have to use the correct name/email (of my client, not me) to create the admin account and then wait for them to confirm it? Then I can login using the admin login info and do what I need?

OR- can I use my own email for the Master Admin, then change it later to their email when I am done working on the site for my client?

Yes, you can change the data later(if not directly, then in the database)

Unless there's an interface via the software to change the database, I don't think I could go in and change it myself, no experience as a programmer.

There is an interface from the software. Or you can use PhpMyAdmin.

OK, this software is making me crazy! When I try and register the first new user, I get a 404 because it is trying to find the adduser.php as if it is inside the "install" directory (which I deleted as instructed by the software). When I entered the URLs to make thetables, I DID NOT put http://www.domanin.com/install/ as the url just the root http://www.domain.com/ . How do I correct this path problem?

edit the includes/config.php file with a text editor.
