When quoting a post that has a quote in it, the user is tasked with hand editing the tags so they only quote the latest reply. This leads to broken tags and bad looking posts that are hard to read.

Nested quotes are confusing to say the least and a waste of time and bandwidth.

Why was this changed, and how can it be configured to work correctly ?

I don't remember any changes in this recently...?

The code that stripped out nested quotes was only nessecary because the UBB couldn't handle nested quotes in the first place.

So I fixed that.

Unfortunately, that left the code that stripped out nested quotes malfunctioning in a very, very bad way.

So that was removed.

The UBB can now safely handle nested quotes.

Unless it's a cosmetic thing, you can now allow your users to nest quotes to their heart's content, and the UBB won't mind a bit.

Once I find a way to put the nesting limit code back in, it will be done (probably with an admin-defined nesting limit)

Cool. It's more an issue of my users quoting huge posts just to add one line of text.

Those that do trim for readability are having trouble sometimes getting the right start and end tags removed.
