Upon making 9 of my forums completely private
the existing posts disappeared.

I need those posts available to authorized users.
What shall I do?

WHne you made the foru porivate you in essence created a new forum. The old posts are not deleted, just hidden.

Please read this note from our archives for how to make then reappear. Though that was a UBB 5 how to the same applies to UBB 6.

Since this is not a bug I am moving this thread to the "how do I?" forum for followup.

Thank you - it looks like that worked.

I did not move any .threads files and I assumed it was ok to overwrite the index.html that was already was in the private directories.

Please verify this is correct.

Sounds fine.. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

.threads will be regenerated (or just rebuild forum stat files), and index.html should be empty anyway. Just be sure to have left a copy in the main Forum directory!
