I will be installing UBB Classic 6.3.1 and need to know what ports are utilized so that I can configure the firewall appropriately.

Thanks for any feedback.

You will need a HTTP server, and those are usually run on port 80.
If you're going to run your own mail server, add ports 25 for SMTP and 110 for POP3.

Of course you can change those ports to any other available, but those are "recommended". <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Idle is correct about HTTP and sometimes SMTP (if anyone else doesn't allow you to use their SMTP server), but you don't need POP3 (110)...

POP3 is "optional".
You only need it for retrieving mail from the server, but that's kind of rare, LK? <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

You probably also don't need to unfirewall 25 - there's no need for anyone to connect from the outside to your SMTP installation. All that's required is for UBB to connect to port 25 (which usually happens from within the firewall on both ends anyway) and then for the SMTP server to connect out to wherever the email's going (on port 25).

So port 25 outbound yes, inbound, unlikely (at least not specifically for the UBB).

I got UBB up and running very smoothly. Both HTTP and SMTP ports did not pose any problems. Email is being sent fine.

How do you change the STMP port used by UBB.Classic?
