Is there a way to decrease the automatic wait period after posting before you can go back to browsing.

It's not a server speed issue, it's the sit tight and wait period.

The reason for the wait period is to allow the server time to "catch up" with your browser. It wouldn't be too wise to "speed" it up since it can end up doing some nasty things to posts
