OK I must be crazy...

I thought I used to be able to go in an reset/change a users password. I cannot seem to find how to do that anymore without creating a new userid (which, of course, erases all of their current user stats).

Help.

The only way to reset/change a user's password in UBB.classic is to edit their memberfile in your members directory.

The ability to view passwords was erradicated in 6.7, as ron stated, fire up your members directory and snag the member profile number and edit line 2

wasnt it eradicated in 6.6? just for the record - i think this is awesome... very professional... many of my members appreciate this tremendously after bad experiences with a competing site where profiles where sabotaged by not-too-nice admins.

Related question - is it possible to change a login name on a member profile in this same manner as described above for a backdoor password change?

Publicly displayed names are stored in more than one file, only way i'd sugguest changing it is if you allow all users to change names then remove the ability after it's updated. However it'd be a good feature request in the feature request forum.

I was talking about login name, not Publicly Displayed name. I suspect password hackers may have figured out the login name on my Member #1 record.

I wouldn't advise attempting to change a login name.

Login names are stored in every post you've made on your board (according to what I last understood from Charles). Renaming this would be an extremely bad thing to do.

Not a problem, I've been yelled at for just about every issue there has been on classic...

Although I'd like this function myself since now UBB.Classic makes it so you have to have a CaSe SeNsaTiVe username/password, it's a pain to type my login name when it's mixed case lol...
