Just had a server crash but was able to recover entire ubb directory and saved it as a TAR file. I uncompressed the file, did all the permissions etc but the cp.cgi file takes me to an install menu instead of the default "already installed" interface.

I thought if I copied all the ubb directories and moved them to a new drive (same site, same user etc) that the ubb would run

Anyway, as I go through the install process (it already recognises the paths) it says membertest.cgi missing and I dont have that file.

Does this whole process sound crazy or is this common??

You should probably follow the Transfer guide to setup your board correctly - https://www.ubbcentral.com/support/docs/ubbclassic/UBB6_backup_transfer.html

The instructs say:

Set up the UBB.classic on the server.  Use the UBB.classic zip file that you used to first install the software.  Do not use the script files that you downloaded in the backup operation.

A few weeks ago I upgraded from 6.x to the latest install with the upgrade version install. So do I need to DL the full install version and upload that to the proper directory?

Yes, you need to use the FULL Install Zip of the current version of your UBB.

WOW, thats a fast reply. ahaha.

Just to confirm (and I know someone will read this post for years to come and get info out of it):

After I reupload my file I use the FULL install of the same version board and go into the cp.cgi. Aside from the files it says NOT to overwrite in that link you gave, everything else would be replaced (that being the cgi files )? All members are brought in and posts from the file that are now in the correct sub folders from the tar?

This was a 700M board. A ton of data to tar if you ask me

If you follow the directions exactly, it will get you back. I have done this procedure on my own board...only instead of a TAR, I FTP'd every bloody file.

Im not THAT crazy to upload all via ftp <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Almost got it set. The install was easy but now I got a new question related to this:

How do I transfer my old STYLE settings?

As far as I can see I copied over all the necessary files but my new install has a default STYLE layout. I had taken the original style and added my own colors and a TON of images for layout

In NonCGI/styles there should be some vars_styles_##.cgi files. Drop those in /NonCGI/styles/importexport and import them via the CP.
