Hey, One of my forums used to be able to restrict the ability for people to start a new topic - I used to be the only person who could start a topic in this forum (being the administrator). Since I upgraded to the latest version of UBB.classic, someone has managed to start a new topic in this forum. So I went into the control panel and looked at the settings for it, and found under the "Permission" tab for that forum that the value that I have for "Restrict Topic Creation" is set to "Authorized Registered Users". Who exactly are these "Authorized Registered Users"? I had a look around but couldn't find out where you define who these are. Thanks

Should be defined via the member management screen when you view a users's profile.

Thanks, so do I have to go through all 1000+ members individually and work out who currently has access and who doesn't and make corrections where necessary? I thought there used to be an interface where you could go into the forum in question and simply select users that were allowed to start a topic within that forum... Plus, when I went into "Member Management" and selected the member who somehow managed to start a topic in the forum that used to be restricted to just me, it turned out that under "Forum Permissions" his checkbox wasn't ticked! So how could he possibly have been able to post? (He is a moderator, by the way). The restricted forum is this one: http://www.superiorpics.com/cgi-bin/ultimate/ultimatebb.cgi/forum/61.html?

If you mark the thread to be restricted you have to allow permissions; it's standard... Why mark it restricted then allow everyone to go there though?

I don't know what you mean by "thread". There is a very good reason why I have restricted access to starting new topics within this forum - the forum is called "Comments from Webmaster"! Hence, only the webmaster (me) is able to start new topics, although anyone may reply to these topics. This used to work fine...

I just found out that one of the moderators managed to 'start' a topic in this restricted forum by starting the topic in another forum and then moving it into the restricted forum.
Should this be able to be done?

Ooh, that's fun... curently, moderators can move topics into any forum so long as the forum from which the topic originated is under their moderation. according to Charles, this is "almost a bug" (good catch!) so we'll be fixing that for a future release.
